Consortium of the Italian Universities involved in nuclear science and technology research activities
Ansaldo Nucleare will cooperate with CIRTEN consortium by supporting doctoral scholarships, funded under the PNRR, in collaboration with Sapienza University of Rome, Politecnico di Milano and University of Pisa. The PhD students will develop research programs focused on cutting-edge technological solutions for water-cooled Small Modular Reactors, Lead Fast Reactors and fusion reactors. In particular they will take care of design and analysis of passive safety systems to optimize plant safety at a competitive cost, support to the design and numerical analysis of experimental research facilities for the validation of calculation codes used in nuclear safety analysis, in addition to the verification and investigation of complex multiphysics processes on the operation of superconducting magnets for fusion reactors. Students will have the opportunity to combine the teaching excellence of Italian universities with the industrial skills of our company, contributing to the development of future nuclear plants.
The PhD project provides a period of stay of students in Ansaldo Nucleare, where they will continue their research activities in close contact with our experts, as well as an experience abroad that will take place within research centers or other companies.
